Why Are Dentists So Cheap in Turkey? The Truth

TABLE OF CONTENTS
When patients in the UK, Germany, or the Netherlands look up dental treatment in Turkey, the prices can seem almost surreal. A dental implant that costs £3,500 in London is available in Antalya for €800. A Hollywood Smile that would cost £15,000 in Manchester is priced at €4,000 in Turkey. The natural question is: why? Is something being cut? Is the quality inferior? In this article, we give you the straightforward, honest answer.
The Main Reasons Turkish Dentists Charge Less
1. Lower Staff Wages (Same Training)
Turkish dental surgeons complete a rigorous 5-year undergraduate dental degree followed by optional 3–5 year specialist training, the same structure as Germany or the UK. Many TakiDent specialists completed postgraduate fellowships in Germany, Austria, or the UK. However, their salaries are benchmarked to Turkish living costs — which are significantly lower than London or Berlin. This single factor accounts for the majority of the price difference.
2. Lower Clinic Operating Costs
Commercial property in Antalya costs a fraction of equivalent space in a European city. A premium dental clinic occupying 400 square metres in Antalya pays perhaps 10–20% of the rental cost of an equivalent London clinic. Utility costs, local business rates, and maintenance expenses are all proportionally lower. These savings are passed directly to patients.
3. The Exchange Rate Advantage
The Turkish Lira (TRY) has depreciated significantly against the Euro and British Pound over the past decade. International patients pay in EUR or GBP — and even at premium Euro prices, the clinic's operating costs in TRY remain very low. This structural advantage is expected to persist for the foreseeable future.
4. No NHS-Style Administrative Overhead
Turkey does not have a nationalised dental health service. Turkish private clinics are lean, efficient businesses without the bureaucratic overhead of NHS-style billing, reporting, and compliance obligations. This reduces overhead costs by an estimated 15–20% compared to a UK private practice.
5. Government Incentives for Health Tourism
Turkey's government has designated medical and dental tourism as a strategic economic priority. Foreign patients receiving certain healthcare services benefit from VAT exemptions and other fiscal incentives. The government has also invested heavily in international hospital accreditation, English-language patient services, and transport infrastructure to support the sector.
The Same German and Swiss Implant Brands
One of the most common misconceptions about dental implants in Turkey is that lower prices mean inferior materials. This is simply untrue at accredited clinics. TakiDent uses Straumann (Switzerland), Nobel Biocare (USA/Sweden), and Osstem (South Korea) implants — the same brands used in premium clinics in Frankfurt, Amsterdam, and London. Every patient receives an implant passport documenting the exact brand, model, and batch number of the implant placed.
Similarly, our E.max ceramic restorations use Ivoclar Vivadent blocks from Liechtenstein, and our zirconia material is sourced from VITA Zahnfabrik (Germany) and Katana (Japan). The materials are identical. The overhead is different.
What Does This Mean for You as a Patient?
It means that by choosing a properly accredited Turkish clinic, you can access the same treatment quality as a premium European practice at 30–50 cents on the Euro. A patient needing four dental implants saves approximately €8,000–€12,000 in treatment costs alone — more than enough to cover flights, a week in a luxury Antalya hotel, and a holiday.

How to Ensure You Are Getting Quality, Not Just Cheapness
Not all Turkish dental clinics are equal. The key indicators of a quality clinic are: international accreditation, verifiable reviews on Google and independent platforms, named implant brands with documented certificates, English-speaking staff and written treatment plans, and a clear post-treatment guarantee.
TakiDent meets all of these criteria. We are a 2× European Medical Awards Winner (2025) with a 4.9★ rating from 847 verified reviews. We are regulated by the Turkish Ministry of Health and hold international dental accreditations.
